ArtByMiles.com is Miles Snyder, a Minnesota artist that has been creating wonderful artwork for decades.
I was born and grew up in the St. Paul, MN Midway area. I graduated from high school and went to the University of Minnesota until I was drafted into the Army. Some of the scenes in my artwork are from some of the interesting places I visited during my Army days in Europe or from working on University Avenue in St. Paul.
I took up artwork as a hobby in my twenties, I had a couple of cousins who went to art school, it looked like fun and I thought it would be something fun that I could do when I retired. I didn't have any formal training, but I took an occasional class from time to time. I became interested in wood sculpting while in Chicago many years ago, while rummaging through a bookstore, I came across a book on woodcarving. I took a look at the pictures and thought, I can do that. I bought the book, went home, tried it, and found out that I enjoyed it. It's a lot of work though.
I have spent many hours in my home studio passionately creating paintings, wooden statues and other beautiful works of art. In addition to this I have created ornate ketubahs. A ketubah is a contract in the Jewish religion, between a husband and wife, given to the wife prior to the wedding ceremony. I made them as gifts for my three children when they got married, so they would have something personally made by me. People liked them, so I continued to make them.
Creativity flows though me in a very unique way. You can see happiness in a lot of my work. It's people being social, partying, playing music and having a good time. My use of clown themes is because they are happy and they're colorful, and I like that. All my art work is just about people, mostly engaged in having a good time.
I have decided to make all of my precious hand crafted works of art available to you. I hope they bring as much joy to you as they did to me.
